The Road Trip begins

I guess I'll start from the beginning. I am embarking on a month-long (ish) road trip. I have been thinking about doing this for many months and started planning it after the new year began. My original plans called for a trip through the southeastern United States to Florida, then along the South to California and up the PCH to Portland and back home through Yellowstone.

This proved to be an overzealous idea financially and time-wise for me so I have amended the plan and began the trip. I am going to try and blog often about my thoughts and travels while on this trip and should have started a couple days ago, but, c'est la vie (sp??). My trip now is set to leave Omaha, go to Greenfield, IA, where i have a good friend, on to St. Louis, another good friend, to Nashville, Knoxville, Athens, Charleston, Atlanta where I will probably meet my real father for the first time, on to Savannah, to Jacksonville to visit my niece and family, Fort Lauderdale to stay with a friend, to Miami and Key West, (would love to take a boat to Cuba for a day, if that even happens), back up the west side of Florida through Fort Meyers to see my friend, Tampa, though the panhandle to New Orleans, which I grow more and more excited about each day, and on to Houston to stay with a good friend, then back home through Oklahoma City and Topeka.

At the time of this first blog, I am in a Nashville hotel room, so I will start the story retrospectively..........
